How to Generate a Memory Dump

Overview

This article explains how to configure your system to generate a memory dump file after a system crash.

Instructions

  1. On the affected computer, open the Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to System and Security > System.
  3. Select Advanced system settings.
  4. Go to the Advanced tab.
  5. In the Startup and Recovery area, select Settings.
  6. Under Writing Debugging Information, select either Kernel memory dump or Complete memory dump.
  7. Click OK to save your changes.
  8. Restart the computer.

After a crash occurs, you can access the memory dump file at the default path or configure a specific path to collect the generated logs.
